Set Dresser and Prop Maker for "Crazy Beautiful Weddings" on 'Be Makeful'
Crazy Beautiful Weddings is a reality TV show that follows the corporate life of one of Toronto's most renowned event planners and designers, Lynzie Kent, and her team, as they embark upon the adventure of planning and designing stunning custom weddings that stay true to couples' aesthetic, love stories, and personalities. Their firm, Love by Lynize, distinguishes them from other event planers in the market due to their distinctive quality of focusing on narrating their couples’ stories through design.
My set dressing and prop making gig for Crazy Beautiful Weddings was a part of my event planning and design internship at Love by Lynzie. Some of my duties included the decoration and preparation of custom photobooths and large backdrops for weddings, designing and dressing details such as table numbers, table runners, place cards, etc., and installation of other decorative elements such as streamers, furnitures, hand-made chandeliers, and more.

Monica and Derek's “Carnival Fiesta” at Ward's Island, Toronto, was born out of the couple's love for colour, Harry Potter, and all things Spanish. The most difficult part of the wedding was to transform the bleak hall into a colourful fiesta-like reception space with limited amount of resources. The team got creative and the installation of the streamers involved attaching a roll of tape at the end of each streamer, aiming it over the duct pipe, and hoping for the best! The couple's love for Spain was incorporated by disguising wooden table numbers and runners as Spanish tiles! The result is a harmonious mingling of colours, with the openness of the venue further accentuating the effect.

Rosa and Alex wanted to bring a little bit of their home, Peru, back to Canada for a Peruvian themed wedding at Berekley Church in Toronto. The result is a wedding inspired by ombre colour tones, and a lot of llamas! The balloon installation and llama themed backdrop stole the show. The backdrop is a handmade creation largely created by weaving colourful threads over nails in order to create words and abstract geometric shapes, paired with llama vinyls and nailed-on florals.

Big Wes Anderson fans themselves, the couple, Karly and Matty wanted to recreate the feel of “The Grand Budapest Hotel” for their “Vintage Hollywood” themed wedding at the Broadview Hotel, Toronto. The result is a pastel themed celebration, dominated by pinks and greens, and vintage furniture. Handcrafted props for the wedding include the 8' x 8' pink backdrop-slash-seating-chart that held vintage tasseled antique keys with name cards on them, and the handmade beaded chandeliers that hung above the sweetheart table.

The disco themed wedding for Arielle and Brett at the Great Hall was a celebration in reds, whites, and pinks, for a couple in love with the eighties, but wanted to replace the neons with "love" themed colours. The design, decoration, and dressing of the wedding included the creation of a fringe backdrop for the live band, a photobooth backdrop dressed in florals and spray-painted gardening tools, over 150 mylar balloons, and much more!
